Berries
Every single person that got to eat berries already know how good they are. Most of them are sweet naturally and you do not have to put in a lot of effort into preparing them. Just as with most fruits out there, you just have to pass berries through water and you can immediately eat them. The best part is that berries are full of important nutrients for our body. Eating them does not only mean that you get to eat something sweet. You will also get a lot of minerals, vitamins and other nutrients that are a lot of help for the human body. For instance, if you eat just one cup of strawberries you will take in as much Vitamin C as you would from a glass of good orange juice. All strawberries also include magnesium, calcium, potassium and folate. To make everything even better, all comes with just around 50 calories. Many other examples can be given.
There are a lot of berries out there. Most people do not even know how many there are. Most of them are great for our body. This is exactly why all nutritionists will tell you that you have to eat fruits on a regular basis. Berries are among the best fruits you can eat. Blueberries are very popular because of their taste but did you know that they also include phytochemicals, which are very useful for the human body. Cranberries and raspberries also offer you good quantities of vitamin C, the one vitamin that is responsible for keeping our immune system in check.
We have to talk about one part of berries that is not always taken into account. Did you know that the pigments that are responsible for the colorful look of berries is very good for the human body. Berries actually come with flavonoids and phytochemicals, which aid in the prevention of certain diseases. Blueberries and cranberries are especially effective against bladder infections. To make everything even better, a diet that includes cranberries, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries can reduce the risk of developing different types of cancer. Lutein is included in raspberries and blueberries. This substance aids in maintaining healthy vision.
All grocery stores come with a lot of fruits. They also have many berries for sale. They come as fresh, canned or frozen. We recommend that you always look for berries that are ripe, firm and colorful. Make sure that they do not have mushy or mold spots. If you do not find fresh berries you can always check out the frozen section. You can also try farmers’ markets. Some of them will sell you berries that are harvested in the same day. You can not get any fresher fruit than that. There are even berry farms that will allow customers to pick their own berries.
Serving berries is very easy as most of them are already sweet enough. On the other hand, you might want to have some diversity. You can always put in slices of strawberries to the cereals you are eating. You can also sprinkle blueberries on your salads and put in raspberries in your favorite yogurt. One of the best smoothies you can make includes milk, bananas and frozen berries. Keep in mind that there are also berries that are not naturally sweet. For instance, cranberries that are sold as simple snacks will also include sugar in order to make them sweeter. On the other hand, you can always add sugar or cream in order to make non-sweet berries taste better. All is up to your imagination but there are a lot of ways in which you can serve berries.
