Bioflavonoids

Bioflavonoids are a critical component of any diet. These substances neutralize free radicals (molecules that have an unstable and uneven pairing of electrons that cause cell deterioration). The great thing about bioflavonoids is that they are readily accessible to our bodies. All we have to do is eat them. A diet that includes plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables will be having sufficient amounts of bioflavonoids. It is when we ignore healthy eating habits that we run into trouble.

A proper amount of bioflavonoids in the diet should be a concern of everyone. Free radicals are enemies to our bodies, although the aging process of cells results in free radicals. Usually our bodies can handle these. However the addition of pollutants, chemicals, smoke and other stresses to our environment causes the accelerated production of free radicals. These compounds cause instability as the molecules attempt to attach themselves to the nearest stable molecule, thus starting the cycle all over again. This is when our body requires help. Bioflavonoids counteract or neutralize these free radicals because they are stable in any form. Some benefits of this are better skin and hair. They also help slow the aging process. In addition, bioflavonoids help decrease the occurrences of eye problems like cataracts, retinal damage and macular degeneration.

Bioflavonoids are naturally occurring in fresh fruits and vegetables. Making sure that we eat at least the minimal guidelines of 5 servings a day will ensure that our intake is where it should be. But what if we still feel that there is something lacking? You can get bioflavonoids in supplements.

The best supplements for bioflavanoids are natural supplements. There are so many available on the market that finding and choosing a quality one should be fairly easy no matter where you live. Between the internet and your local health food store, a natural supplement containing these nutrients is readily located. Searching the internet with any major search engines should produce an ample amount of hits. Before you buy, make sure that the manufacturer is reputable.

Bioflavonoids should be included in the foods that you eat. You only have one body and you should take care of it. Part of this involves healthy eating habits. Making sure that plenty fresh fruits and vegetables containing these nutrients are included in your diet every day will ensure that you are supplying your body with the nutrients it needs.
