High Fat Foods
Whenever dealing with foods that are high in fat content we need to know that they should be avoided as much as possible. On the other hand, there are both good and bad fats and fats are needed by our body in order to function properly. The key to handle this correctly is to avoid high fat foods that include one of the two bad fats: trans fats and saturated fats. The good fats are monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats. By replacing high fat foods that mainly include bad fats with high fat foods that mainly include good fats you will make a great move and you will notice an improvement in your overall health. Unfortunately few people understand the importance of fat and tend to completely avoid fats. This is not at all a good approach and it can easily lead to a series of problems that are more than disturbing. Although the most common example that can be given is heart disease, others can also appear.
All studies that were performed in the past have brought in proof that saturated fat can lead to heart disease. This happens as the fats are responsible for increasing bad cholesterol levels. Examples of high fat foods that contain saturated fats are: cheese, chicken fat, butter, ice cream, palm oil, meat fat, lamb, coconut oil, veal and pork. Saturated fats are generally found in most animal products on the market and even some that come from plants. Trans fats are also really bad and will raise bad cholesterol levels in our body. High fat foods that come with too much trans fats include shortening, cake, doughnuts, cookies, margarines, snack foods, crackers, potato chips, cake, frozen food and candy.
What you have to understand is that the foods above should be avoided as much as possible. On the other hand we also have high fat foods that come with good fats and you should not avoid them. What you have to be careful about is linked with how much fat you take in. While this is a nutrient that is needed, you should only take in around 25% of all calories you consume daily from fats. If you read the labels that are put on foods you will surely see exactly what products you need to buy. If you simply do the math and avoid high fat foods that include trans fats and saturated fats you will feel better instantly.
