Low Fat Diet Facts

There are various reasons why you would want to start a low fat diet. Unfortunately some of us will need it because of a medical reason while others might just want fast weight loss for whatever purpose suits them. It does not really matter why you want to do this but it is important that you know some facts about low fat diets.

You need to understand that you need to be realistic. If you are aiming for weight loss it does not meant that you should risk your health. A low fat diet will not affect your body negatively if you aim to lose around 2 pounds per week. If your expectations are too high and you ask too much from your body you will be faced with it crashing and you surely do not want this to happen.

We recommend that you throw away all cookies and similar products you have in your refrigerator. It does not matter if we are in the middle of the season and there are various season foods that are traditional. A low fat diet should eliminate them all. Whatever you throw out should be replaced with low fat foods. This includes whole grain products, fruits, vegetables, grains and breads.

Probably the toughest part of a low fat diet stands in the serving sizes that you eat. You need to always examine the labels on foods in order to do the math. In most situations what is required is a lot less than you imagine. Keep in mind that food packages come with more than one serving size. The analysis label that you will see on products usually refers to given quantities and not the entire product. For instance, you might read that you will get 1 g of protein for 100 grams of a food. On the other hand the entire package might be of 300 grams. In this case, if you eat the entire package you will be faced with 3 g of protein.

We have also noticed that a lot of people do not eat enough at breakfast. A good breakfast is crucial in a low fat diet and it should include a good quantity of protein and foods that sustain your calorie consumption until lunch. Never neglect the importance of water because it should always be included in adequate quantities in low fat diets. Thirst can easily be confused for hunger and this can lead to us eating when we should not. Water is essential in the well functioning of all low fat diets.
