Foods

Contrary to what people might be thinking, when it comes to foods we must not only talk about different foods that we can consume. In fact, there are hundreds of possible foods and there is one characterization of them that is usually forgotten. We are talking about the fact that on the market today we basically have two types of foods that we can buy: genetically modified foods and organic food. The problem is that the vast majority of foods we see in the local supermarkets are genetically modified foods. You might ask why this is important.

The main difference between organic food and genetically modified foods stands in the fact that organic food is much healthier. Genetically modified food is basically food that has been grown with the use of substances that are not 100% natural. Most people refer to such substances as chemical. We thus end up with food that does not grow as slowly as they should. We have a crop that will mature a lot faster and the results will look very good although they will lack the nutrients present in organic foods.

You can easily notice the differences between genetically modified food and organic food. Genetically modified food is usually perfect in the sense that you do not notice any flow and foods are usually bigger than normal. For instance, you surely saw a very big apple in the supermarket. That apple is surely genetically modified in the sense that it can not naturally grow that big.

Nutritionists from all around the world will tell you that it is always better to buy and eat organic food that was grown in special organic farms. Such foods are tastier and include a lot more nutrients than genetically modified food in most cases. There is also the possibility that food was modified genetically in order to obtain something special. For instance, there are some grapes that are huge and are usually put on the table just because they look really good. They do not taste as good as regular grapes but they do add style points to a meal.

It is up to you and your personal budget to decide what you will purchase. In most situations genetically modified food is cheaper and organic food is more expensive. There are also cases in which this changes due to the characteristics that were changed through genetic modifications. Organic food is always better.
